Wimberly named GCAA Player of the Week
CUTHBERT, Ga. --Behind a 50-point outburst in a win over Gordon State College, Andrew College's Jalin Wimberly was named GCAA Player of the Week.
For the two games last week, Wimberly averaged 30.5 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, 2.5 assists per game, along with 2.5 steals per game. In the Gordon game, Wimberly was nearly unstoppable, going 19-of-22 from the field, 4-of-5 from 3, and 5-of-6 from the free throw line.
"We are excited for Jalin and our program," Andrew College Head Men's Basketball Coach Jamie Brooks said. "Jalin is one of our hardest workers and again, it is a testament to how hard our guys work. Our team will be the first to tell you they're not big on individual awards, but to see one of your teammates honored is exciting for them. What we want now is to get some consistency going for the remaining nine games of the regular season and hopefully into the conference tournament."
Wimberly is the second conference player of the week in school history, with the first being Ijon Owens just three weeks ago.
