Fighting Tigers Fall short on Sophomore Day
Cuthbert, Ga- Volleyball Sophomore Day Summary
The Andrew College Fighting Tigers volleyball team will have their last home game of the season against Florida State College-Jacksonville for Sophomore Day.
The first match with Florida State College- Jacksonville did not go the way that they had hoped for Andrew, as in the first two sets the Fighting Tigers lost the first two sets 25-21 and 25-22. Then in the third set Florida State College just couldn't be slowed down offensively as they won the set 25-15.
The second match against Florida State College was completely different than game one.
Andrew started out absolutely on fire taking a commanding lead 11 to 6. Florida State did go on a small run making the score of 12 to 11. The Fighting Tigers did end up pulling away with a score of 25-16.
The second set Andrew again had the lead but midway into the set Florida State took the lead and never looked back. The Fighting Tigers tried to fight back but fell 25-18.
In the third set both teams were making great defensive plays and trading points. Then just past the midway point Andrew pulled away with a few good blocks and kills to win the set 25-20.
The fourth & fifth sets were a little rough for the Fighting Tigers as Florida State was clicking offensively and Andrew just ran out of gas losing both 4th & 5th sets 25-13, 15-7.
The next match for the Fighting Tigers will begin at 5:00pm EST on Monday 10/21/2024 at Gadsden State Community College located in Gadsden, AL.
Andrew College is a NJCAA Div 1 institution located in Cuthbert, GA. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 15 sports and compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association and in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association.
