Tigers Fall Short to Eagles
Cuthbert, Ga- Andrew College Women's Volleyball losses to Pensacola Christian College
The Fighting Tigers and the Pensacola Christian Eagles battled competitively throughout the entire match. The Eagles edged out the win three sets to none with each set becoming more difficult to close out the match.
The first set the Eagles had an early serving run as #10 Miranda Knox starting with the score 5-5 then finally the streak stopped at 14-6. The Eagles also had a nice service ace from #2 Hope Brooks. The defense was led by #15 Sydney Anderson & # 14 Lyssie Matzker with a few blocks a piece. Now for the Fighting Tigers #9 Samantha Neeley helped the team come back with her serving magic as she started to make a 4-point run making it 19-10 first set, as well as a service ace from #10 Jordynn Allen. The defense started for the Fighting Tigers with #5 Roseliz Vasquez and #7 Na'Laya Singleton with a few blocks a piece. The Eagles won the set 25-12.
The Second set the Eagles started serving with #4 Helen Payton and she went on a 3-0 run to start the set then had a service error to make it 3-1. Both #15 Anderson and #16 Megan Kinsey had kills in the set to help their offense flourish. While the Fighting Tigers had #5 Vasquez helped lead the charge starting when serving being down 14-8, guiding the Tigers back to a score of 14-12. Also #13 Ellie Brannon had three serving aces. #1 Ava Dickens & #15 JaMya Evans had a couple of kills. Defensively the Tigers were led by Vasquez and Anderson with a pair of blocks. The Eagles won the set 25-19.
The third set started out strong for the Eagles as #20 Michaila Kinney, #9 Hannah Romero, Anderson and Matzker all had a Kill or two. When the Eagles were down, they put in #9 Romero when down 9-8 then took the lead 15-10. Then the Fighting Tigers fought through defensively as Singleton had four blocks in the set and one of them in a 3-possession rally. Offensively the Tigers were led by Brannon and #11 Sahara Iglesias with a pair of Kills. Towards the end of the set the Tigers called a timeout when down 24-17, then they battled back to tie it up 24-24 and lost the next two points to make it 26-24.
