Women's Soccer Fall in Home Season Opener

Cuthbert, Ga- Women's Soccer lose Season Opener

This is a totally new and upcoming season for the Fighting Tigers Women's Soccer Team. This year Andrew is being led by a first year head coach Payton Johnson.

Coach Johnson has a total of 15 players on her roster with three players being sophomores. One key returning play is Avah McGinley as she has helped set the culture for the Fighting Tigers team and help it grow under new leadership.

This afternoon the Fighting Tigers hosted Gordon State College for the season opener, which was also a conference match for the two teams as well.

In the first half Gordon State was very aggressive team passing the ball well and getting many shots on goal. As the game went on Gordon did get five goals in the first half but the goal keeper Jaycee Later had a few nice saves to limit Gordon from getting any more goals in the first half.

Once the second half begun Andrew did become more aggressive and trying to get past the tough Gordon State defense. Gordon did end up scoring five more goals to have a lead of ten to zero.

The final score of the match ended up being ten to zero, with Gordon State winning.

The next game for the Fighting Tigers Women's Soccer team will be on August 26th at 7pm EST at Albany State University.

Andrew College is an NJCAA Div.1 institution located in Cuthbert, GA. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 15 sports and compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association and in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association.
