Cuthbert, Ga- Women's Basketball Win Opening Round of GCAA Tournament
The Fighting Lady Tigers tonight played against the Central Georgia Tech Titans in the first round of the GCAA Conference Tournament.
Andrew & Central Georgia during conference play have played two times with the Titans winning both of those match ups by winning both games by seven points or less.
Now this time around the first round of the GCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, Andrew and Central Georgia went head-to-head at the Titans home court.
The Fighting Tigers started the game off strong, scoring 20 points while only allowing 11 points for the Titans. Andrew and Central both had slow scores in the second quarter each having only 8 points in the quarter. As the Fighting Tigers have the lead at halftime 28 to 19.
Starting the second half, Andrew then picked up right where they left off scoring 18 points in the third quarter and hold Central to having only 7 points in the third quarter. Then in the fourth quarter both teams were battling back and forth trading baskets, but the lead was too much for the Titans, as Andrew won the game with a final score of 64 to 51.
The Fighting Tigers were led tonight by guard Braniya Baker scoring 21 points on 10-21 shooting from the field in only 28 minutes. Other noticeable players for Andrew were Trista Bennett with 10 points & 6 Rebounds and Tashay Gay with 7 points & 8 Rebounds.
The next game for the Fighting Tigers will be on the road against South Georgia Technical College located in Americus, GA on Thursday March 13th at 6:00pm Est time.
Andrew College is an NJCAA Div 1 institution located in Cuthbert, GA. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 15 sports and compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association and in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association.
