Fighting Tigers Fall in Conference Home Opener

Cuthbert, Ga- Fighting Tigers Fall at Home

The Lady Fighting Tigers are ready to start the second half of the season at home vs the East Georgia State College Bobcats.

East Georgia State and Andrew last year played twice last year at both of their respected home courts. The Bobcats did win both games.

Yesterday East Georgia was very aggressive crashing the offensive glass getting second and third chances around the rim. They also were relentless on defense forcing Andrew to make tough passes against their press. Later in the half the Fighting Tigers would break their press and get the ball up the floor to hit Trista Bennett for a couple of three pointers to give Andrew a little energy and get the crowd back into the game. The Bobcats would be up at halftime with a score of 51 to 23.

The second half East Georgia State just could not be stopped as they again were aggressive crashing the boards, but it also seems that they could not miss from beyond the arc. While Andrew would get the ball inside, it seemed that that there was a lid on the basket. The Fighting Tigers then in the fourth quarter kept playing hard and had the best quarter of the game with them keeping it close in scoring with a 21 to 15.

The Bobcats won the game with a final score of 101 to 47.

Notible players from the game was Zora Hill leading Andrew in scoring with 17 points & Trista Bennett with 14 points, shooting 3-5 from behind the arc.

The next game for the Fighting Tigers will be at home vs Lurleen B Wallace in the Jinks Gymnasium located in Cuthbert, GA on January 18th at 5:00pm EST.

Andrew College is a NJCAA Div 1 institution located in Cuthbert, GA. The Fighting Tigers sponsor 15 sports and compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association and in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association.
