Women's Basketball Fall Short on the Road
Cuthbert, Ga- Women's Basketball Falls short to Saints
The Lady Fighting Tigers went on the road to face the Lurleen B Wallace Saints for the first time this season.
Lurleen started the first quarter off strong scoring 16 points in the quarter, while Andrew was struggling to score the basketball only having five points.
Then the Fighting Tigers started to pick up the pressure and be aggressive against the Saints scoring 19 points on Lurleen and only allowing 16 points in the second quarter. Lurleen was still up at halftime with a score of 32 to 24.
Andrew to start the third quarter was doing everything right defensively only allowing the Saints to score a total of eight points in the quarter. While the Fighting Tigers scored 15 points to cut the lead to a one-point game, as the Saints were up with a score of 40 to 39 going into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter was a battle for both teams as neither one of them wanted to lose this ball game. Andrew about midway into the fourth took the lead with a score of 44 to 42. Then Lurleen answered with a basket of their own. With 15 seconds left in the game Andrew gave up and Offensive rebound to Lureen as they completed the three-point play. Then Andrew had the ball with 6 seconds left in the game as they had an open opportunity to tie the game at the buzzer, but the shot just missed and Lurleen won the game with a final score of 55 to 53.
The next game for the Fighting Tigers will be at home in the Jinks Gymnasium against Chattahoochee Valley Community College located in Cuthbert, GA on Friday 12/13/2024 at 2pm EST.
