Patrick Crosby Named GCAA Defensive Player of the Year

Cuthbert, GA - Andrew College standout Patrick Crosby has been named the 2024–25 Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Defensive Player of the Year, a prestigious honor awarded to the top defensive athlete in Region 17. Crosby, who locked down third base for the Tigers, consistently set the tone with his elite glove work, strong arm, and instinctual play.

Known for his quick reflexes and high baseball IQ, Crosby was a cornerstone of Andrew College's infield, excelling at one of the toughest defensive positions on the field. Over the course of the season, he recorded 98 total defensive chances with just two errors—an impressive feat at the hot corner. He tallied 74 assists and 22 putouts, finishing the year with a .980 fielding percentage.

Whether it was charging slow rollers, making off-balance throws across the diamond, or reacting to sharp liners, Crosby's fielding prowess routinely shut down opponents' scoring opportunities. His impact was felt well beyond the stat sheet, as he brought consistency, energy, and leadership to the Tigers' defensive unit.

Crosby's excellence wasn't limited to defense—he was a consistent contributor at the plate as well. He batted .379 on the season with an on-base percentage of .474. He added six doubles, one triple, and a home run, showing his versatility and value as a two-way player.

Crosby's Defensive Player of the Year title is not just an individual achievement—it's a reflection of the standard he helped set for the entire program. His dedication, work ethic, and performance have made him one of the most respected players in the region and a true difference-maker for the Tigers.
