DOUGLAS, Ga. -- The Andrew College baseball team swept Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) foe South Ga. State in Douglas, GA on Tuesday night, scoring 7 runs in the last 3 innings of game one to cruise to a 10-5 win, then plated 5 runs in the top of the 7th inning to overcome a 4 run deficit, and snatch a stunning 12-11 victory in the nightcap.
Jonah Stout picked up his 4th win in game one, tossing 7.1 innings, scattering 7 hits and striking out 6 to hold the Hawks at bay until the offense got rolling, scoring 4 runs in the 7th and 3 more in the 9th to cruise to the 10-5 win, with Chandler Griggs picking up his 3rd save of the season. Both Jake Edwards and Blake Falor were 2 for 5, with Edwards doubling in 2 runs, Kaleb Podger and Griffin Long were each 1 for 3 with a pair of runs scored and 2 RBI, as 8 different Tigers had a hit in the 10-5 win.
Jacob Pierce belted his 4th homer of the year and drove in 3 runs in the wild 12-11 game two win, Griffin Long launched his team-leading 6th homer and drove in his GCAA-leading 41st RBI, JT Whatley went 4 for 4 with 2 RBI, Jack Hay and Podger each had a pair of hits, and Falor singled in a pair of runs, while Alex Blount picked up his 3rd win on the season in relief, and normal starting pitcher Colby Fields was called on to close the game, and responded with his 1st save of the year.
