A native of Pella, Iowa, Ken DeCook brings a wealth of experience and passion to the field as the Head Softball Coach. A lifelong educator and coach, DeCook’s journey in athletics began at Pella High School, where he excelled in both football and baseball before moving on to play collegiate baseball at Central College, William Penn University, and Madison University. During his college playing career, he earned All-Conference honors and developed the leadership skills that would define his coaching path.

With a strong academic background in Education and Coaching, DeCook has spent years shaping student-athletes on and off the field. His coaching career has spanned both high school and college levels, including stops at the University of Pikeville, Colorado Northwestern Community College, Central Wyoming College, and his alma maters Central College and William Penn University.

DeCook’s coaching accolades include being named Coach of the Year, a testament to his dedication, impact, and success in building competitive programs. What makes his journey particularly special is the opportunity to have been coached by his own son, Kenny, from T-ball all the way through college—an experience that speaks to his deep-rooted love for family and the game.

Outside of coaching, DeCook enjoys spending time with his wife Claire and their son Kenny. The DeCook household is also home to a large and lively group of pets—Sarge, Sadie, Maggie, Sophie, Beignet, Ruger, Brady, Minnie, Orey, Smokey, Mink, Shortstop, and Jeffy—each with their own place in the family’s heart.

DeCook continues to lead with integrity, enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence, helping his athletes reach their full potential both on the diamond and in life.
