PHENIX CITY, Ala. -- The Lady Tigers unloaded early and often on Monday against Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC), pounding out 31 hits, and scoring 24 runs in the doubleheader sweep. The four-game win streak matches the Tigers season high, and finishes out the non-conference portion of their schedule. The remaining 14 games are all GCAA match ups. With all of the GCAA teams having played 14 games, the Tigers are just 3 games back of a playoff spot.
In the 13-3 game one win, Angela Heimback led the Tigers with a 3 for 4 day, while homering for the 3rd time, scoring twice, and driving in 2 runs, Taylor Sheffield added a 3 for 5, including a double, a triple, and scoring 3 times, Charlie Smith was 2 for 2 with a pair of RBI, belted her 1st homer of the year, and picked up her 9th win in the circle, Kaylan Pruitt was 2 for 5 with an RBI and 2 runs scored, and Erin Ragan and Katelynn Simpson each had a hit and 2 RBI in the one-sided affair.
Game two saw the Tigers jump out to a big lead, then hang on down the stretch in the 11-9 win. Ashtyn Bray and Simpson each went 3 for 4, with Bray driving in a pair of runs, Devin Weaver went 2 for 3, hitting her 3rd homer, and driving in 2 runs, Kenley Kennedy was 2 for 5, also hitting her 3rd homer, scoring twice, and driving in 1 run, and Charlie Smith added a 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Hannah Bruce ran her record to 6-5 on the year, allowing 3 runs and 9 hits over 6 innings to pick up the win.
The Tigers are off this Easter weekend. They will be at the Hord Athletic Complex on Wednesday for a 3:00 pm doubleheader against South Ga. State. The games will be broadcast on the ACDN.
