Andrew Baseball's Kaleb Podger Named NJCAA Division I Baseball All-American
CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Baseball Committee announced their All-American teams recently, and Andrew College's Kaleb Podger was named a 3rd Team All-American. Podger was the NJCAA Region 17 Player of the Year in 2021, and was the only player from Region 17 named to any of the All-American teams.
Podger, a redshirt freshman from Columbus, GA and Shaw High School, finally got to show his immense talent in 2021, following a rehab year, two years ago, then a truncated 2020 that was slowed by injury, then ended by Covid. Given full health, Podger exploded, obliterating the Andrew Baseball single season record for batting average at .457 (previous record .418), setting new marks for hits with 86 (81), slugging percentage with .660 (.574), and on base percentage with .528 (.500), while also drilling 6 homers and driving in 56 runs. Podger also flashed the leather, handling 89 chances with 5 assists, and no errors in right field.
Podger will continue his baseball career at Emmanuel College, a private college in Franklin Springs, GA, who are members of the Conference Carolinas and the NCAA Div. II Baseball
