Andrew's Taliah Wesley Named 1st Team All- Region
CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Women's DI Basketball coaches selected their All-Region teams, along with selecting the Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year for 2020-2021 season, and Andrew College's Taliah Wesley was named a 1st Team All-Region selection, her second All-Region honor, having been named 2nd Team All-Region last year as a freshman.
Wesley, a 5'7" sophomore forward from Blakely, GA and Early County High School, came to Cuthbert with a stellar high school resume, both in the classroom, and on the hardwood. A Senior Superlative, Beta Club member and Honor Graduate, with a 3.9 GPA, at Early County in 2019, Wesley was a 2nd Team All-Region selection, whose Lady Bobcats were runner-up for the 2019 Class AA Georgia High School Women's Basketball Championship. She also played volleyball and was a high jumper on the track team.
An acrobatic scorer, with a deadly eye, Wesley led the GCAA in scoring this year, averaging 19.5 ppg, while finishing 2nd in free throw pct. at 74.8%, 4th in the league in field goal pct. with 44.9%, and 5th in three point pct. at 33.8%. She posted double digit scoring in all but one game this season, posting 3 - 30+ point efforts, and 8 - 20+ point games, including a career-high 33 points against Albany Technical College on Feb. 11.
Expanding on her stellar high school academic career, Wesley carries a perfect 4.0 GPA at Andrew, and is scheduled to graduate in May with an Associate of Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
Her Andrew College Head Coach Cayla Moore commented on Wesley, stating, "She is the definition of an student athlete, best player I have ever had the opportunity to coach. She gets it done on and off the court with her best every time. I am excited about what her future holds. She is the standard of Andrew College women's basketball and I am grateful she choose me to lead her."
Wesley is mulling several offers from four year institutions, hoping to make her decision soon, now that her Andrew College career has ended.
