CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College softball team split a doubleheader on Thursday at the Hord Athletic Complex, taking the opener 1-0 versus Wallace State-Dothan (AL), then dropping the nightcap, 7-0. The 1-0 victory was the 100th win for Head Coach Kayla Williams, all of them at Andrew College.
Entering the bottom of the 6th inning in a 0-0 tie, Devin Foster singled with one out, and stole second base. Catcher Taryn Strayer then ripped a single to left, her second hit of the game, driving in Foster with the eventual game winner. Starter Hailey Stovall, expected to toss just a couple of innings, ended up going the whole way, allowing just one hit while striking out 4 in the shutout. The rare 1-0 score in a juco softball game was played in only one hour ten minutes.
The Lady Tigers managed just two hits in the 7-0 loss, one each for Stovall and Strayer.
Andrew is back at the Hord Athletic Complex on Saturday for a 1:00 pm doubleheader against Tallahassee CC (FL)
