PHENIX CITY, Ala. -- The Andrew College softball team knocked off Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) on Saturday in Phenix City, AL, taking game one 10-8 in extra innings, then pushed across the go ahead run in the top of the 7th inning in game two to complete the sweep, 5-4. Dale Elmore picked up the win in both games, pitching two innings of relief in game one, striking out 4 for her 3rd win of the year, then tossed a complete game in the nightcap, scattering 7 hits to run her season record to 4-3. Head Softball Coach Kayla Williams picked up wins No. 98 & No. 99 with the sweep.
Sarah Culp led the Tiger attack in the 10-8 game one win, going 3 for 5 with a run scored and 3 RBI, including a tie-breaking 2-run single in the top of the 8th inning to drive in the eventual game winner. Taryn Strayer went 3 for 5 with 3 RBI and a run scored and a stolen base, Emily Phillips was 2 for 5 with a pair of runs scored and a stolen base, Devin Foster was 1 for 2 with 3 runs scored and a stolen base, and Brianna Neese scored twice and had 2 RBI to pace the Tiger offense.
Hailey Stovall was 2 for 4, belting her 1st homer of the year in the top of the 7th inning to put Andrew ahead for good, Neese singled in a pair of runs, DeeAurah Bradshaw doubled in a runs, and Elmore helped her cause with an RBI single in the 5-4 win in a back and forth game two.
The Lady Tigers travel to Enterprise, AL to take on Enterprise State CC on Tuesday in a 1:00 pm doubleheader.
