CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College softball team took on #13 ranked Wallace State-Dothan at the Hord Athletic Complex on Tuesday, dropping game one 9-0, before overcoming a pair of deficits in game two, to earn their 5th win of the year, 6-5, behind a solid outing from Rebecca Johnson in the circle, and the big bats of Ryla Christian and Carrie McWaters.
Johnson was able to keep the Lady Govs close all game, despite errors in the first two innings, which allowed Dothan to take a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning, and a 5-3 lead in the 2nd inning. She pitched a complete game, allowing just 4 hits, walking 1 batter and striking out 3 to earn her 2nd win of the season. Down 3-0 in the bottom of the 1st, Christian came up with 2 runners on and one out and belted her team-leading and GCAA leading 5th homer of the season, evening the game at 3-3. Christian ended up 2 for 2 on the game, scoring once, with 4 RBI. The RBI gave her 18 for the season, and her average climbed to .521. Both marks are good for 2nd in the GCAA. McWaters went 3 for 3, and scored 3 times, while Marie Goswick singled in a run.
The Lady Tigers are back at Hord on Thursday for a double header against CVCC at 1:00 pm.
