ANDALUSIA, Ala. -- The Andrew College baseball team took a pair of games Sunday in Andalusia, AL, beating host Lurleen B. Wallace (L.B.W.) 7-3 in game one, then scoring twice in the top of the 7th inning in game two, to take down Snead State (AL) 4-2.
In game one, the Tigers jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the 3rd inning, and cruised to the 7-3 win. Centerfielder Jacob Pierce paced the offense, going 3 for 4 with a double and 4 RBI, Robert Malone was 2 for 3, Grant Hall singled in a run, and Jake Edwards doubled and scored a pair of runs, as the Tigers turned 9 hits into 7 runs. Shawn Host ran his record to 2-2 on the year, allowing 6 hits and 3 runs in 6 innings, while striking out 4, and Lorne Barineau struck out 2 in the 7th inning to close out the game.
In game two, after Snead State tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the 6th inning, Malone led off the inning with a hit by pitch, advanced to 3rd base on an overthrow on a pick off attempt, and then scored the go ahead run on Reid Ragsdale's single back up the middle. Ragsdale scored two batters later on a passed ball to put the Tigers up 4-2. Following 5 strong innings from starter Jonah Stout, who allowed just one hit and 1 earned run, while striking out 4, Barineau tossed two scoreless innings to run his record to 3-0. Ragsdale went 2 for 2 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored, Joey Fletcher was 2 for 4 with a double, Pierce singled in a run, and Griffin Long drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, as the Tigers took 3 of 4 over the weekend and ran their record to 12-5 on the season.
The Tigers travel to Enterprise, AL on Wednesday for a single nine-inning game against Enterprise State CC, starting at 2:00 pm.
