Lady Fighting Tigers Taste Success; Beat South Ga. State 2-1

DOUGLAS, Ga. - With a tough 5 games in the rearview mirror, the Lady Fighting Tigers set their sights on South Georgia State College Thursday afternoon, in Douglas. Speaking of his team, Head Coach Jon Hussak boasts that the Lady Fighting Tigers are extremely resilient. "They are very gritty and tough on the field. They have seen their struggles on the field with results and injuries, but they battle on and grind it out day by day. That's something very uplifting" said Hussak. The Lady Tigers did just that against the Hawks as well. Fighting hard for every ball, Madilynn Thompson, with an assist from Alexandra White, was able to find the goal midway through the first half, leading the Tigers into half with a 1-0 advantage. Tori Rodriguez then added to the Fighting Tigers' tally with a goal at the 68 minute mark on an assist from Thompson. At that point, the Lady Tigers had to weather a relentless Hawks offense, as keeper Kaitlyn Webster turned away 13 of 14 shots, to post her first collegiate win. "They definitely deserved this win, they knew they could go out there and out compete with the other team. I challenged them before the game to meet them and beat them at every point on the field, and they did just that." said Hussak.

The Lady Fighting Tigers will now have another day off before a tough weekend of home games, Saturday facing a well organized Oxford of Emory team, and then finishing up their 3 game series with Gordon State on Sunday. Both games will be streamed live by ACDN.
