Lady Fighting Tigers Drop Pair To Open Season

SPARTANBURG, S.Car. -- The Lady Fighting Tigers kicked off their 2016 season on the road, dropping a pair of 3-1 decisions to national powers Louisburg College on Saturday, and NJCAA 15th-ranked Spartanburg Methodist College on Sunday.

In Saturday's tilt, the ladies fell behind 2-0, before Payton Tullis scored her first collegiate goal on an assist from Sarah DeYoung at the 59:00 mark to draw Andrew within 2-1. The Lady Hurricanes then posted the clincher with just under ten minutes to play, for the final score. Soleil-Thai Baker turned away six of nine shots in the match, played in a heat index 102 degrees. 

Against Spartanburg Methodist College, the visitors again fell behind 2-0, before Alexandria Felger drilled home her first collegiate goal, on an assist from Karissa Trikones, to cut the lead in half, before the Lady Pioneeers added an insurance goal for the final. Baker had nine saves.

The Lady Fighting Tigers open the home portion of their schedule on Sunday, with a noon match against first-year program Daytona State College at the Hord Athletic Complex. ACDN will broadcast the match.
