MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Lady Tigers women's soccer team (2-2) scored four first half goals to claim a 5-1 victory over hosts Faulkner University JV. The win puts Andrew back at .500 on the year before heading into conference play next week.
Kayla Kieffer opened up the scoring with an assist from Ilaria Berni. Following that, Berni found the back of the net from distance over the goalkeeper's hands. Moments later, Kieffer struck again from the left side to give Andrew a 3-0 lead before Berni converted a penalty kick awarded to take the Lady Tigers with a 4-0 haltime lead. Freshman Savanna Palmer found the back of the net for the first time of the season to extend the lead to five. And with some remaining time left on the clock, Faulkner was able to score a consolation to finish the game 5-1 in favor of the Tigers.
Both Raquel Hauss and Alina Rodriguez split time in goal to give Andrew their second win on the year. Andrew will open conference play next week (9/8) when they travel to Tifton, Ga. to take on Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College at 5:00 PM.
