Women's Soccer upsets No. 18 Spartanburg Methodist

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Lady Tigers (1-1-0) put away four unanswered goals in the second half to seal their first win of the season against nationally ranked side Spartanburg Methodist. After falling to Broward the day before in a tough double overtime loss, the ladies definitely responded well this afternoon.

Sydney Oliver scored what would be the first of four goals scored as she slotted away a loose ball just outside the box and put it over the SMC goalkeeper. Two minutes later, Carleigh Hoelzel would play a split ball through the middle, which sent a running Ilaria Berni to goal and pocketed it backpost to make it 2-0. In the 67th minute, the "super-sub" duo of Savanna Palmer and Agnes Evangelista connected together and Evangelista was able to find herself 1 on 1 with the SMC goalkeeper and bury her shot to make things 3-0. Then in the 78th minute, Evangelista would find Rachel Bogue in the middle of the field for Bogue to shoot from distance over the SMC goalkeeper to make it 4-0.

Goalkeeper Raquel Hauss recorded two saves and her first cleansheet.

The ladies will travel down south to Melbourne, Fla., where they will play No. 3 ranked Eastern Florida State College (8/29) and Polk State College (8/30).
