Lady Tigers End Fall Schedule With A Pair Of Wins

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Lady Fighting Tigers wrapped up the fall semester portion of their schedule with a 74-50 win over West Georgia Tech on Saturday, then a 53-42 victory on Sunday over Oglethorpe University JV, both games being played in the Jinks Gymnasium on the Andrew College campus. The wins leave the Tigers with a 7-6 overall record, and will now take a two-week break for the Christmas holdays, before getting into the heart of their GCAA schedule.

In the win over West Georgia Tech, Nylia Perry made her season debut in spectacular fashion, coming off the bench to pour in a game-high 15 points, including 4-4 on 3-pointers, to lead the Tigers back from a five point deficit after the 1st quarter. Dawniqua Snead and Alexis Cainion both added 10 points, Yolanda Givens chipped in 9 points, and Destiny Reed pulled down a team-high 10 boards and added 4 points off the bench. The Tigers outscored the Lady Knights 47-27 in the 2nd half to cruise to the win.

Sunday's game versus Oglethorpe was mistake-filled affair that saw the ladies grind out a victory, before heading home for the holidays. The leading scorers for the Tigers were Toddrianna Isler and Perry with 9 points each, Snead with 8 points and 7 rebounds, and Takerria Waters added 5 points and 7 rebounds. Isler pulled down a game-high 11 boards.

The Tigers play next on January 3rd, in a home match-up versus Atlanta Metro, tip-off at 5:30 pm. The mens team will open GCAA play against Atlanta Metro at 7:30 pm.
