Andrew College's Women's Basketball Helps Out

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College women's basketball team have precious few days to enjoy before launching into practice leading up to the start of the 2017-2018 campaign.

The Lady Tigers, however, were happy to lend their time to volunteer at the Health Lifestyle Activity Day held Sept. 8th at Randolph Clay Elementary School. Sixteen student-athletes worked stations that encouraged and advised kids on activities they could participate in daily to maintain healthy lifestyles.

"Nyla Perry, a sophomore point guard from Albany, Ga., said, "A lot of women on the team, me included, have younger family members – nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters – so a lot of us helped with childcare. We played with the little kids. It was something of interest to us. At one point, I looked around and the team was having as much fun as the kids. One of the things we do with Coach P in preseason conditioning is play football to break from tougher days. We played football today with our girls group and it was just fun because girls don't usually get to play football. "

"We learned that we can make a difference just by having the 16 of us give two hours of our time," TK Waters, a sophomore transfer from Moultrie, Ga., added. "It was a lot of fun to see the kids having so much fun."

The women's basketball team, under the direction of 2nd year Head Coach Courtney Pritchett, begins practice Oct. 1. The Tiger family will host a Tiger Madness meet and greet on Oct. 5, that will be open to the public.
