Lady Tigers Knock Off 1st Place East Ga State 3-0; Register Tosses Shutout

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College softball team put the brakes on the high-flying Lady Bobcats on Saturday afternoon at the Hord Athletic Complex, riding the complete game shutout tossed by Emilee Register to take the opener 3-0, before dropping the nightcap 8-5.

Andrew plated three runs in the bottom of the 4th inning for all the support Register would need, as she scattered 4 hits and fanned 6, while working out of several jams in the 3-0 win, her 4th of the season. Allyson Lanford was 2 for 3 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI to pace the Tiger attack, while Register, Hailey Stovall, and Emily Phillips all had base hits.

Despite pounding out 11 hits, and taking a 5-3 lead into the 5th inning, the Tigers couldn't hold, and East Georgia rallied for 5 runs over the final three frames, and held on for the 8-5 victory in game two.  Phillips went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI, Stovall was 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI, and a pair of runs scored, Brianna Neese went 2 for 4 with a run scored, and an RBI, Kylie Guidas doubled in a run and scored, and Lanford stayed hot with a pair of hits.

Andrew is back on the road next Wednesday against ABAC, with a 2:00 pm doubleheader in Tifton, GA.
