Lady Tigers Split With L.B.W.; Johnson Shines in Circle and at Plate

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College softball team split a doubleheader against Lurleen B. Wallace (L.B.W.) on Thursday at the Hord Athletic Complex, dropping game one 19-4, then rebounding to mercy rule the visitors 12-4 in five innings in game two. Rebecca Johnson scattered 4 hits in 5 innings of work, allowing a pair of earned runs while striking out 2, and staked the Lady Tigers to a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning with a 3-run blast to leftfield. The Tigers added 5 runs in 3rd inning, behind Taylor Knight's 3-run homer, and another run in the 4th inning and cruised to the 12-4 win.

Knight was 2 for 4, including her team-leading 5th homer and 17th RBI, Johnson went 1 for 2, with 3 RBI, while scoring 3 times and hit her 2nd home run of the season, Abigail McIntosh was 2 for 2, scored twice, and drove in a run, Carrie McWaters doubled in a run, Kierra Folson was 1 for 2 with an RBI, Devin Foster was 1 for 3 with 3 runs scored, Lindsey Mitchell was 1 for 2 with a run scored, and Adriana Olguin was 1 for 3 with a run scored, as the Tigers pounded out 10 hits in the game.

The Tigers are back at the Hord Athletic Complex on Friday for a doubleheader against Wallace-Dothan. First game is at 1:00 pm.
