Playoff Bound!

CUTHBERT, Ga. --  For the second time in four years, the Andrew College softball team is headed to the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Softball Championship Playoffs. The Lady Tigers, under Head Coach Kayla Williams and Head Assistant Coach Madison Ragan, will enter the tournament as a #4 seed and will open with a game against #1 seed Georgia Military College at 10:00 am, Friday May 3rd, at the Strong Rock School, located in Locust Grove, GA.  The tournament is double elimination, and the winner will earn a spot in the 2019 NJCAA Div. I Softball Championship, held from May 22-25 at the Canyons Complex, in St. George, UT.   

Andrew is led offensively by catcher/1st baseman Ryla Christian, and in the circle by Rebecca Johnson.  Christian has put up a seaon to remember at the plate, leading the GCAA in avg. (.477), hits (72), home runs (16), slugging (.907), on base percentage (.549) by wide margins and is second, by just 1 RBI, in RBI with 56, and also led the team with 13 doubles. Johnson has contributed in all areas for the Tigers, racking up a team leading 10 wins, 4.15 ERA, and 24 games started in the circle, hit lead off most of the season, batting .278 with 44 hits, including 7 doubles and 2 triples while driving in 14 runs, and started games at 2nd base, shortstop, and 3rd base when not pitching. Injured Kaylan Pruitt was hitting a robust .391 with 50 hits and a team leading 10 steals when her season ended due to an ankle injury. Fellow catcher Carrie McWaters hit .329 with 53 hits, including 9 doubles, 2 homers and 13 RBI, as well as scoring a team leading 39 runs, infielder Kaitlyn Classon hit .291 with 37 hits, including 7 doubles and 20 RBI, despite missing two weeks after needing stitches in her knee, outfielder Megan Carlson came on late, putting up a .290 batting average with 5 RBI, Abigail McIntosh started all 51 games in centerfield, pounded out 40 hits, including 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 homerun, had 22 RBI, and hit .286, Jordan Williams started all over the infield except 1st base, hitting .283, Kaylee Hughes  hit .250 on the season, and made 23 appearances in the circle, including 4 starts and picked up 1 win and 2 saves, outfielder Alexia Feely played in 30 games, picked up 13 hits, including 3 doubles, and finished with a .245 average, Marie Goswick played in 35 games, mostly in rightfield, and she had 11 hits, including a pair of doubles, and 6 RBI, Megan Royals played 1st base, 2nd base, and shortstop over 29 games, picking up 7 hits and 4 RBI, and Logan Stinson had 3 hits and a pair of RBI in 25 games.
