Lady Tigers Sweep Thomas University JV 5-4 & 5-1

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College softball team took out the Lady Nighthawks at the Hord Athletic Complex on Tuesday afternoon, scoring the winning run in the bottom of the 7th inning to record the 5-4 walk off win in game one, then rode Rebecca Johnson's complete game four-hitter to take the nightcap 5-1. 

The Tigers were cruising behind McKenzie LaCount in game one, before Thomas tied the score, 4-4, in the top of the 6th inning with a 3-run rally. In the bottom of the 7th, Andrew loaded the bases with one out, when Kaitlyn Classon drove a shot down the first base line that was bobbled, allowing Carrie McWaters to score the winning run. LaCount picked up her 7th win in the circle, while Ryla Christian went 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI, Kaylan Pruitt was 2 for 3 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI, LaCount was 2 for 3 with an RBI, McWaters went 2 for 4 with a pair of runs scored, Johnson was 2 for 4, and Classen was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI, as the Tigers pounded out 11 hits.

Johnson was staked to a 5-1 lead in the second inning of game two, and cruised the final five innings to record her 6th win of the season, allowing just 4 hits and a pair of walks. Both McWaters and Pruitt went 2 for 4 with an RBI, with McWaters doubling and scoring once, Johnson helped her own cause, going 1 for 4 while doubling and scoring twice, and Abigail McIntosh went 2 for 3 as the Tigers added another 12 hits in the win.

Andrew travels to LaGrange, GA to take on the LaGrange College JV in a  Wednesday doubleheader, first game is at 4:00 pm.
