CUTHBERT, Ga. -- After a bus ride of eight hours and a pair of losses the day before, it wouldn't have been a surprise to see the Andrew College softball team carry over the effects of that result, but the Lady Fighting Tigers weren't having it. McKenzie LaCount tossed a one-hitter in game one, as the Tigers run-ruled South Georgia State 8-0 in game one, then rallied to score 3 runs in extra innings to take game two ,6-5.
LaCount struck out a pair of batters, walked one, and faced just two hitters over the minimum to pick up her 4th victory of the season, in the 8-0 game one win. Second baseman Rebecca Johnson doubled twice and drove in 2 runs, Kaitlyn Classon went 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI, LaCount went 2 for 3, and Ryla Christian belted her team-leading 7th homer of the year, as Andrew cruised to the win.
Game two was knotted at 3-3 after 7 innings, and Andrew quickly found themselves behind 5-3 after South Georgia scored a pair of runs in the top of the 8th inning. Carrie McWaters singled in a pair of runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to tie the score, then Classon forced in the walk off winner, drawing a bases loaded walk to complete the sweep.
Christian is putting together a special season, leading the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) in the triple crown of categories of batting average (.458), home runs (7), and RBI (26).
