Smith Tosses Shutout; Bruce Picks Up Her 7th Win; Lady Tigers Sweep West Ga. Tech
CARROLLTON, Ga. -- Sophmore right hander Charlie Smith scattered 5 hits over 7 innings, while allowing no runs and striking out 4, to earn her 10th win of the season, taking game one 4-0, then rallying for one run in the top of the 7th inning behind Angela Heimback's RBI single to take game two 4-3 and complete the sweep of West Ga. Tech on Friday afternoon in Carrollton.
Smith picked up a pair of hits, including a double, also in game one, while Katelynn Simpson belted her team leading 4th homerun to drive in one run and Devin Weaver doubled in a run to lead the Tiger offense. Erin Ragan and Kenley Kennedy each had a pair of hits in game two, before Heimback's team leading 26th RBI drove in Taylor Sheffield with the game winner. Hannah Bruce got the win in relief to record her 7th win of the year. Sharmaine White got the save with a perfect 7th inning.
