Smith Does It All in Game One; Lady Tigers Split With South Ga. State

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- Sophomore Charlie Smith went 2 for 3, drove in both Lady Tiger runs, and pitched a complete game, allowing just 2 hits and 1 run in the Tigers GCAA season opener, as they knocked off South Ga. State 2-1 in Douglas, GA on Satuday afternoon in game one. Andrew rallied back from a 3-0 deficit in the 1st inning of game two, eventually tying the game in the top of the 5th inning, but couldn't push across another run and fell 4-3 in eight innings in the nightcap.

Kenley Kennedy doubled and scored in game one, while Kaylan Pruitt went 2 for 4 in game two, Taylor Sheffield went 1 for 3, stole 2 bases, and scored twice, Smith and Devin Weaver each drove in a run, and Hannah Bruce was the hard luck loser in game two, despite allowing just 6 hits and 1 earned run in 7.2 innings.

The Lady Tigers return to the Hord Athletic Complex on Wednesday for a GCAA matchup against East Ga. State in a 2:00 pm doubleheader.
