Smith Dominates Game 1; Softball Splits With CVCC

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- Charlie Smith led the Tigers, both in the circle and at the plate in game one, as the Lady Fighting Tigers took the opener 6-1, before dropping the nightcap 7-1 on Tuesday afternoon at the Hord Athletic Complex. The split runs the Tigers overall record to 9-10, as they head into GCAA play on Saturday.

Smith, who struck out 15 batters in her last start against L.B.W., went 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles and 4 RBI at the plate, and tossed a complete game in the circle, allowing just 4 hits, 1 unearned run, while striking out 2, to run her record to 5-6 on the season. Taylor Sheffield was 1 for 2 with a pair of RBI as the Tigers jumped out early and cruised to the 6-1 win.

Game two, saw the Tigers threaten early and often, but couldn't take advantage of multiple opportunities, leaving 10 runners stranded, until the top of the 7th inning, when CVCC broke up a close 2-1 game, by scoring 5 runs and sealing the Tigers chances, in the 7-1 loss. 

The Lady Tigers travel to Douglas, GA on Saturday to open GCAA play, taking on South Ga. State in a doubleheader, first game is at 1:00 pm.
