Smith & Kennedy Lead Game One Win; Lady Tigers Split With L.B.W.

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Lady Tigers split a doubleheader with Lurleen B. Wallace (AL) on Saturday at the Hord Athletic Complex, taking game one 1-0 in 8 innings, before falling in the nightcap 6-5 in 10 innings.

In the first game, the Tigers managed just three hits, but rode Charlie Smith's 15 strikeouts to the win. Smith scattered 5 hits in 8 innings in the complete game effort to pick up her 4th win in the circle this year. After a leadoff single from Erin Ragan in the 8th, Maci Ivester came in to pinch run, advanced to second on a ground out, then came around to score the walk off winner after a sharp single to left center from Kenley Kennedy.

Game two saw the Tigers muff a pop up in the top of the 7th inning to allow the tying run to score, and then after scrambling back to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th, ran out of luck in the 10th inning, finally falling 6-5 in 10 innings. The Tigers battled back from an early 3-1 deficit, to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the 5th, but couldn't hold the lead. Kaylan Pruitt led the way in game two, going 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and 2 RBI, and Taylor Sheffield also doubled in a run and scored twice for the Tigers.

The Tigers take on CVCC (AL) at the Hord Athletic Complex on Tuesday. The first game starts at 2:00 pm.
