Lady Tigers Split With Enterprise State

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Fighting Lady Tigers split a doubleheader on Wednesday with Enterprise State CC(AL), dropping game one 4-2, before rallying to take the nightcap 6-3 at the Hord Athletic Complex. Angela Heimback and Erin Ragan belted their first homers in the win.  With three doubleheaders in less than a week to open the season, Head Coach Kayla Williams is pleased with the 5-1 start for the Tigers saying, "It's good to get off to a strong start. I've had a chance to see some of the things we are doing well, and what we need to work on. The schedule will pick up now, as we have 15 games before we kick off conference play later this month, so we will see how we progress."

The Lady Tigers managed just six hits in game one, with Charlie Smith going 2 for 3, and Taylor Sheffield going 2 for 4 with a run scored. Smith(2-1) took her first loss of the season.

The bats got going in game two, as the Tigers raced out to a 6-1 lead in the 5th inning and cruised to the win. Heimback, who drove in her team-leading 10th RBI on the season, and Ragan both had two-run shots to pace the offense. Sheffield added another pair of hits and raised her team-leading batting average to .636, and Katelynn Simpson added a pair of hits, including a triple, as the Tigers pounded out 10 hits on the day. Hannah Bruce(3-0) picked up third win of the season, scattering nine hits and striking out three, and Madison Logan pitched a scoreless 7th.

The Tigers are off for a few days, taking on Wallace State-Dothan next Tuesday in Dothan, AL. The doubleheader starts at 1:00 pm.
