Lady Tigers Split With South Georgia State

DOUGLAS, Ga. -- The Andrew Lady Fighting Tigers softball team rode Charlie Smith (8-5) to big 2-1 win over South Georgia State on Friday in game one, then dropped game two by the same score, as the Tigers picked up their 11th win on the year, and ran their GCAA record to 1-2.

In game one, Smith allowed only 6 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 3, and Angela Heimback singled in the tying run in the top of the 3rd inning, then Kierra West brought in the eventual game winner with a sacrifice fly. Kenley Kennedy went 2 for 3, with a triple, as the Tigers had 5 hits in the game.

Sharmaine White (2-3) was the tough luck loser in game two, allowing just 2 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 1, as the Lady Tigers could muster only 6 hits and 1 unearned run in the 2-1 loss.

The Tigers go out of conference on Tuesday to take on CVCC in Phenix City, AL, where they will complete the suspended game from Feb 7th, with the Tigers down 8-1 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning, then play the regularly scheduled doubleheader right after.
