Lady Tigers Open Season With Sweep of Thomas University JV

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College Lady Fighting Tigers erupted for 9 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning in game one to run-rule the visiting Lady Nighthawks 9-1, then Madison Beazley broke a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the 5th inning in game two with a sharp single to left to plate the eventual game-winner, as the Tigers swept Thomas University JV at the Hord Athletic Complex on Friday afternoon.

In game one, Charlie Smith picked up the win in the circle, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits in 6 innings of work. Kierra West led the Tiger offense with a pair of hits, including a 2-RBI double in the 5th that gave the Tigers their first lead of the game. Taylor Sheffield also had a pair of hits, scored twice and drove in a run, as the Lady Tigers cruised to the victory.

Game two was a seesaw affair, with the lead changing hands five times in the seven innings, before Autumn Evans sacrifice fly plated pinch-runner Kenley Kennedy to tie the score at 6-6 in the bottom of the 5th inning, then Beazley knocked in Katelynn Simpson with the game-winner. Simpson had doubled prior to Evans sac fly. Sheffied went 3 for 4, Shaeline Browne and Beazley went 2 for 4, Madison Whitehead had a 2-RBI triple, and Whitney Campbell picked up the win in the circle with 3.2 innings of relief.

The Tigers take on Central Alabama CC in a doubleheader at Hord on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
