Andrew's Brian Maru Finishes 2nd at NJCAA Region 17 Cross Country Championships

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- Andrew College men's cross country runner Brian Maru finished 2nd at the NJCAA Region 17 Cross Country Championships, being hosted by Georgia Military College, and run at the G.M.C. home course. Maru finished :23 seconds behind the winner, and picked up his second medalist honor of the season, the other being a 4th place finish at the MGA Invitational in early September. The Tigers team finished 2nd in the team competition.

Maru, finished the 8K (5miles) course in 28:22.4, averaging 5:42.4 a mile. Treveon Baldwin posted a 34:18.4 to finish 9th, Rashaun Johnson came in with a  34:58.5, for an 11th place finish, Jacarius Davis ran a 37:01.3, good for 17th place, and Jordan Cunningham rounded out the scoring Tigers with a time of 42:40.5 to finish 22nd. Trevor Jackson (55:26.0) and Christian Aguilar (57:38.5) also ran for the Tigers.

Destiney Okonkwo was the lone Lady Tiger to compete in the championships, recording a 31:38.3, finishing 25th in the 5K female run.   

The meets ends the season for both teams.
