Tigers Put Four On GCAA All-Region Team

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- In Head Coach Josh Pantazelos's first year, the Andrew College men's soccer team rebounded from a 2016 season that saw them score just 12 goals and post a 2-9 record, to a 2017 season that resulted in an 8-7-1 record and 45 goals, and put four players on the GCAA All- Region Team. Forward Bryan Zuniga, midfielders Reyes Hernandez and Andrei Bajura, and defender Fredrik Ackander were selected by the region coaches for 1st Team Honors.

Zuniga, a freshman from Plantation, FL, paced the Tigers with 16 goals, 9 assists, and 41 points on the year, all good for 2nd in Region 17 individual stats. Hernandez, a freshman from Mableton, GA, scored 3 goals, good for 6 points and had 1 game-winner on the season. Bajura started all 13 games he played in, tallied 4 goals and 3 assists, his 11 points ranking 3rd on the team. Ackander, a freshman from Vasteras, Sweden, chipped in a goal and an assist and anchored the back line from his center back position.

Along the way, the Tigers posted a 4-game winning streak, won two, back-to back game weekends on the road, knocked off nationally-ranked ASA College (Miami) 3-2 at the Hord Complex, dropped a tough 3-4 decision to nationally-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in overtime on the road, and lost the region championship to Georgia Military College on a header in the 88th minute. With just 3 sophomores on the roster, Pantazelos is poised to build a solid foundation for the program.
