Andrew Falls to G.M.C. in Last Minute

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College men's soccer team fell short Tuesday afternoon at the Hord Athletic Complex, against GMC 1-0, in a very physical contest.

The Tigers defended very well in the first half, probing when able, but not giving anything away. The best chance came from a cross to Kishawn Campbell 20 minutes into the game, but the Bulldogs goalkeeper, Tim Dolan, came up with a timely save.

In the second half, GMC would continue to dominate possession, not really threatening the AC goal. The Tigers would have two 1v1 situations with Andy Jean-Pierre, but would not finish past the GMC goalkeeper. As time wound down the Tigers would commit a foul just inside their half with about a minute left on the clock. The Bulldogs would serve the ball into the box, and score off a header to end the game.

"The game is honest," said coach Pantazelos, adding, "If you're true to the game, it will be true back to you. Unfortunately we didn't execute on the details that matter in big games. The pendulum of things we can't control swung back in our favor, unlike from early in the season, which I knew it would, because over the course of a season that stuff all evens out. But I am proud of the effort and fight we showed, we just need to execute on the details that matter most under pressure. We will learn from this experience, and get ready for our next challenge on Friday."

The Andrew College Tigers travel to Mississippi to take on Itawamba Friday at 3:00 pm, then Northwest Mississippi CC at 3:00 pm on Saturday.
