Andrew Battles Past ASA

Cuthbert, GA- The Andrew College men's soccer team found a way to grind out a 3-2 OT victory against a very good ASA College side on a hot Friday afternoon.

The Tigers opened the scoring 20 minutes into the game off a well struck shot from Andrei Bajura. Then AC would net their second against the run of play from the teams leading scorer Bryan Zuniga, who finished his 13th goal on the season.

The second half would be controlled by the Avengers pulling a goal back from a PK in the 50th minute. ASA would then level the game in the 70th minute. Both teams battled hard physically, but ASA would be reduced to 10 men when the Avengers goalkeeper pulled down Andy Jean-Pierre on a 1v1 outside the box. The Tigers would not capitalize on the man advantage in regulation.

AC would not take long into OT to finish off the game with a goalkeeping error out of the back, and a well chipped ball by Andy Jean-Pierre for the game winner.

"No one ever won a game after the 1st half of soccer", said coach Pantazelos. "This is the first time all season we had a lead at half-time against a really good team, but we talk all the time about responding to the present situation in a game good or bad. We feel neither are continuous, and we just have to recenter ourselves, and be relentess in our fight to do things that go into winning until the final whistle. This was the response our team needed after the trials and tribulations we faced before, during, and after our match against Concordia. We all came together, and were committed to the cause today, and our performance matched the result."
