Lewis Jones signs to join Spring Arbor University
CUTHBERT, Ga. -- Andrew College men's soccer First Team All-Region 17 honoree Lewis Jones has signed to join Spring Arbor University (Mich.) for the 2016 season.
"We are delighted to see another player join a strong four-year program," stated Andrew College head coach Rudy Roediger. "After discussions with SAU head coach Nathan Miller it was obvious of the good fit for Jonsey (Lewis Jones) and to have a working relationship with such a quality soccer program and institution of higher learning."
Jones joins a Cougars squad that made their way into the 2015 NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll after a 5-3-1 start that included a 2-1 (OT) win at then No. 25 ranked Olivet Nazarene University, a 0-0 (2OT) draw against Madonna University who was receiving votes and a pair of one goal losses to No. 19 Lindenwood University-Belleville (1-0) and the defending NAIA National Champion and No. 1 ranked Davenport University (2-1).
"We are very excited to add a player Jonsey's quality to our squad," said Spring Arbor head coach Nathan Miller. " Lewis has proved he can help propel a team to the next level. That is exactly what our team is on the verge of doing, and I believe Jonsey is an important piece to that puzzle. He has a sincere passion for the game, for improving, and is willing to sacrifice for the team. Jonsey's finishing qualities from outside the box, his defensive abilities, and his versatility are important components that will help our squad. Working with Coach Roediger to bring Jonsey to Spring Arbor has been fantastic, and we look forward to his success here at SAU."
Jones made an immediate impact in his first season for the Fighting Tigers after transferring from Montreat College (N.C.) where he earned 2013 Second Team All-Appalachian Athletic Conference honors for the NAIA squad. The native of Liverpool, England, recorded an NJCAA Region 17 regular season best nine assists for the Fighting Tigers and chipped in with a the second-most goals on the team (5) to record the second most points (19) for AC.

The Fighting Tigers made strides to return to one of the top programs in the Southeast District and proved it by earning the No. 16 national ranking in both the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Coaches Poll and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NJCAA Division I Poll.
Since the conclusion of the fall season Jones along with three other Fighting Tigers have been named to the British Virgin Islands Men's National Team roster for the 2016 Caribbean Cup by BVIFA Head Coach Avondale Williams.
