Konradsson Makes The Field at the 2019 NJCAA Div. I Men's Golf National Championship
MARION, Ill. -- Andrew College's Rasmus Konradsson sank a 15 foot birdie on the 18th hole to finish off his 3rd round at the 2019 NJCAA District IV Championship with a 73(+2), vaulting him six spots on the individual leaderboard into a T10th, and earned him a spot in the 2019 NJCAA Div. I National Championship next month. Konradsson was also named to NJCAA All-District IV Team. The District IV Championships were hosted by John A Logan and held at the Links of Kokopelli Golf Course. The Tigers shot 340-335-327=1002 to finish T10th.
Konradsson shot 76-79-73=228(+15) to lead the Tigers in scoring, Grant Richardson fired a 90-83-79=252(+39) to finish 49th, Logan Bracey signed for an 87-86-80=253(+40) to finish 50th, and Jacob Brantefelt tallied an 87-87-95=269(+56) to round out the Tiger scoring.
Konradsson, a 2018 NJCAA Div. II PING All-Region selection, was Andrew's leading scorer for the fourteenth time in sixteen tournaments over his two-year career. The sophomore from Njurunda, Sweden is Head Coach Aaron Feyes second individual participant in the NJCAA National Championships in three years, joining Tyler Erwin from 2017.
The 2019 NJCAA Div. I Men's Golf National Championships will be played at the Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, FL from May 14-17. Over 120 players will take on the 7,151 yd, Par 72 course over 18 holes for four days to determine both team and individual champions. Konradsson enjoyed his best outing of the seaon at the NJCAA Div. I National Preview last fall, shooting 75-74-69=218(+2) on the very same course, to finish T4th and earning the 1st All-Tournament selection of his collegiate career. The final round 69 was the second lowest of the third round, and was one of just five rounds in the 60's among the entire field.
Head Coach Aaron Feyes commented, "Rasmus is set up well for this course and this tournament. He's played the course four times now, recorded his best finish of his career there, and has been hitting it well of late. Birding 18 at the District Championship to get into the field is just the latest example."
After practice rounds on Sunday and Monday, the field will tee off Tuesday, May 14th for the 1st round.
