Andrew College's Erik Sundstrom Named to NJCAA PING All-Region Team
CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced their All-American and All-Region Teams last night, and Andrew College's Erik Sundstrom was named to the NJCAA Division II Ping All-Region Team.
Established in 1958, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) is the professional organization of golf coaches. The GCAA's mission is to support its member coaches by creating educational opportunities, providing resources, and promoting its members with the purpose of enhancing their overall performance as coaches, mentors, and teachers. The GCAA also recognizes the excellence and achievements of its members and their student-athletes in academic, athletic and civic endeavors. |
Sundstrom, a sophomore from Sundsvall, Sweden, was one of just two players to make all 8 tournaments for Andrew this past year, was the Tigers top finisher in 5 of the 8 tournaments, and was an All-Tournament selection at the NJCAA Region 17 Championships, carding a 78-76-74=228 to finish 3rd. A stellar student, Sundstrom has narrowed his choices to play next year at a four-year college, and looks to make a decision soon.
The selection adds to Andrew College's and Head Coach Aaron Feyes list of post-season award winners. Last year, Markus Svahn was named a NJCAA Division II Ping All- Region selection, in 2015, Andreas Tancred was named a NJCAA Division II PING All-American (2nd team), in 2014, Tim Blomdahl was named a NJCAA Division II PING All-American (2nd team), as well as Tancred being named an All-Region selection, and Linus Manntz was selected as a NJCAA Division II PING All-Region selection in 2013.
