Tiger Beat CVCC in OT; Run Record to 11-2

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College men's basketball team needed all 40 minutes of regulation, and another 4:55 of overtime, to finally knock off Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) 98-97 last night, as sophomore Jalin Wimberly made an acrobatic, twisting, left-handed layup with just .05 left to put the Tigers up for good. CVCC was unable to get a shot off as the horn sounded, and Andrew ran its season record to a sterling 11-2. The Tigers now embark on their Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) schedule, with the final 16 of 17 games, being against conference foes.

Wimberly again led Andrew with 25 points, shooting 7-12 from the field and 9-10 from the free throw line, while adding 6 assists. Marcus Kirkland shined on both ends of the floor, pouring in 23 points, along with 6 rebounds, and holding CVCC's second leading scorer to just 9 points on the defensive end. Kristian Collins and Jordan Booker each had a double-double, with Collins pumping in 14 points and grabbing 10 boards, and Booker adding 12 points and dealing a game-high 10 assists. The Tigers shot 52% from the field and 73% from the free throw line in the back and forth affair.

The Tigers will take their five-game winning streak into conference play on Saturday against South Ga. Tech in Americus.
