
Andrew College Tigers Fall To Highlands On Walk-Off
A walk-off left Andrew College Tigers on the wrong end of a 13-12 defeat on Tuesday. The game was tied at 12 in the bottom of the twelfth when the final run was scored on a solo home run.
Despite the loss, the Tigers racked up 14 hits in the high-scoring affair and showed fight from start to finish.
Andrew was first on the board in the opening inning when Zack Bowman hit a sacrifice fly to bring in a run. The Tigers then flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 6-4. The biggest blow in the inning came off the bat of Charlie Kapp, whose double drove in three.
In the top of the ninth, the Tigers fought back to take a 10-9 lead. Braden Simmons singled in one run, Kapp delivered a sacrifice fly to bring home another, and two runs came around to score on an error.
Andrew once again grabbed the lead in the top of the tenth when Luke Turner blasted a two-run homer to left field, putting the Tigers up 12-10.
Jadon Lirette started on the mound for Andrew College, going five innings, allowing six hits and seven runs, while striking out three and walking four. Riley Gaskins took the loss after throwing two innings and allowing three runs on two hits, striking out one and walking two.
The Tigers piled up 14 hits on the day. Charlie Kapp led the team with four RBIs and went 1-for-4. Turner led the team in hits, going 3-for-6. Jack Quick, Simmons, Al Nsah, and Andon Gray each had multiple hits. Nsah also swiped two bases. The team showed great plate discipline, earning eight walks—two each from Patrick Crosby, Nsah, and Gray. Defensively, the Tigers turned one double play.
