Tiger Baseball Picks Up Post Season Honors

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Baseball coaches announced it's All-Region teams, Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Gold Glove Team, and Coach of the Year, and Andrew College's Mitch Cowan, Trevor Gruskza, and Jack Hay were named to the GCAA All-Region 2nd Team, while shortstop Blake Falor was named the GCAA Defensive Player of the Year, and along with centerfielder Brayden Eavenson, were named to the GCAA Gold Glove Team.

Falor, a redshirt freshman from St. Augustine, FL  and Bartram Trail High School, has been a two-year starter at shortstop for the Tigers, where he hit .313 over 95 games in his career, with 11 doubles, a pair of home runs, and 50 RBI. He sparkled in the field this season, handling 191 chances (71 putout's and 115 assists) with just 5 errors, good for a .974 Fielding Percentage. 
 
Hay, a redshirt freshman from Parkland, FL and St. John Paul High School has done nothing but hit since arriving in Cuthbert. A GCAA All-Region Designated Hitter both seasons at Andrew, Hay batted .376 over 96 games, with 23 doubles, 3 triples, 12 home runs and 85 RBI.
 
Eavenson, a redshirt freshman from Elberton, GA and Elbert County High School, started all 53 games in centerfield for the Tigers, where he handled 109 chances without an error. But he flashed more than the leather, leading the team with a .381 batting average and stolen bases with 22, while finishing second with 64 hits, while adding 8 doubles, a home run, and 27 RBI.
 
Gruskza, a freshman from Douglas, GA and Coffee County High School, started all 53 games at multiple positions for Andrew and hit lead off for most of the season. He either shared or had a team-leading 44 runs, 65 hits, 12 doubles, 3 triples, 3 home runs, and an on base percentage at .491, while knocking in 25 runs and stealing 14 bases in 15 attempts.
 
Cowan, a freshman from Richmond Hill, GA and Richmond Hill High School, was the starting 3rd baseman for Andrew, until being injured late in the season. He hit .362 on the year, with 50 hits in 46 games, including 5 doubles, 2 triples and 27 RBI.
