Tigers Split With Enterprise State; Gruskza Stays Hot

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College baseball team split a doubleheader on Thursday night at the Hord Athletic Complex, dropping the opener 11-6, before holding off the Boll Weevils 4-3 in the nightcap. The results bring the Tigers overall record to 10-7 on the year.

Andrew fell behind 6-1 through the top of the 5th inning in game one, cut the deficit to 6-4 on Trevor Gruskza's 3-run homer in the bottom of the 5th, but surrendered another five runs over the last two innings, and fell 11-6. Starter Will Sims was plagued by several errors and departed after 4.1 innings, taking his first loss of the season. Gruskza continued his hot hitting, going 2 for 4 with a run scored, his 2nd homer of the season, and 4 RBI, Barron Northrop was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI, and Dekel Williams went 2 for 4 with a double, as the offense pounded out 11 hits.

Game two was a tight one from the beginning, with Andrew putting up 3 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning, Enterprise picking a run in the 3rd and 5th inning and threatening in the top of the 6th inning with two on and no one out, when Andrew Parr entered the game, and snuffed out the threat and pitched a scoreless 7th inning to pick up his 1st save of the season, while starter Seth Crowe earned his 3rd win of the season, tossing 5.0 innings and fanning 6. Gruskza doubled in a pair of runs, Colton Harrell singled in a run, and Brayden Eavenson picked up an RBI groundout, as the Tigers turned 8 hits into 4 runs.

Andrew is back at the Hord Complex for a 1:00 pm doubleheader against Gulf Coast State (FL) on Saturday.
