Andrew Baseball Splits With Central Alabama; Baucom Shines on the Mound

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College baseball team rebounded from a game one 4-0 loss to Central Alabama Community College (CACC) on Saturday at the Hord Athletic Complex, riding an outstanding effort from starter Cole Baucom to record the 3-0 win in the nightcap, evening their season record at 5-5.

Andrew was stymied at the plate in game one, rapping out 7 singles and drawing 3 walks, putting multiple runners on base in several innings, but failed to come up with big hit to get the offense going. Brayden Eavenson went 2 for 3 and stole a base, Trevor Gruskza, Blake Falor, Kyle Kuramoto, Mitch Cowan, and Ben Crawley each had a hit, and starter Caleb Granger was the tough luck loser.

Baucom tossed 5 shutout innings, scattering 4 hits, while fanning 7 batters and picked up his 1st collegiate win, while lowering his ERA to 3.86 on the season in the game two 3-0 win. Dekel Williams and Eavenson each singled in a run, Chandler Hicks picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly, Gruskza doubled, Colton Harrell, Falor, Crowley, and Cowan each picked a hit for the Tigers. Alex Blount pitched a perfect two innings, while striking out 1, to record his 1st save of the year.

The Tigers take on Lurleen B. Wallace on Tuesday at 4:00 pm in a single nine-inning game at the Hord Athletic Complex.
