Tigers Pound South Ga. State 19-3 & 16-5; Pick Up 30th Win of the Season

DOUGLAS, Ga. -- The Andrew College baseball team run-ruled South Ga. State on Tuesday night in Douglas in both ends of the doubleheader, walloping the Hawks 19-3 and 16-5, and in the process, posted just the third 30-win season in program history, and the first since 2007. With Gordon State splitting a doubleheader on Tuesday, the Tigers moved into a tie with Gordon in 2nd place, each with a 15-9 record in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA), both 3 games behind leader Ga. Highlands, with 6 games to play.   

The Tigers turned a scheduled nine inning game into a seven inning one, rolling to the 19-3 win by pounding out 17 hits, including 4 home runs, and starter Jonah Stout fanned 5 in 6 innings to pick up his team-leading 6th win of the year. Jake Edwards was 3 for 3 with 2 homers and 6 RBI, Jack Hay was also 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI, Jacob Pierce went 3 for 6 with a pair of doubles, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI, and Griffin Long had a pair of hits and 3 RBI, as the Tigers scored in every inning but the 6th.

Andrew again turned a scheduled nine inning game into a shorter one, this time ending the game after the 8th inning in the 16-5 victory. Logan Seehafer struck out 6 in 6 innings to run his record to 4-0 on the year, Edwards had a pair of hits and 4 more RBI, Long tripled, scored 3 times and drove in 3, Kaleb Podger scored twice and doubled in 2 runs, Brayden Eavenson singled in a pair of runs, Barron Northrop had a pair of hits, and Pierce had 2 hits, 2 runs, and 2 stolen bases, giving him 36 on the season.

The Tigers take on South Ga. State again at the Hord Athletic Complex in a 2:00 pm doubleheader on Friday
