Tigers Sweep ABAC 17-9 & 7-3; Take Sole Possession of 2nd Place in GCAA

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College baseball team continued to roll, dropping fellow Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) member ABAC 17-9 in the opener, then pulled away late to complete the sweep, taking the nightcap 7-3. At 10-6 in the GCAA, the Tigers are just 2 games back of leader Georgia Highlands, and a full game ahead of 3rd place Gordon State.

The Tigers unloaded in game one, pounding out 20 hits and 17 runs to pull away for the 17-9 win. Kaleb Podger was 3 for 5, with 3 RBI, including a double and his 4th homer of the year, Blake Falor went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI, Jacob Pierce went 2 for 4, scored twice, belted his 6th homer, and drove in 3 runs, Jake Edwards was 3 for 5, with a double, 2 RBI, and 3 runs scored, JT Whatley went 3 for 4, with 4 runs scored, Brayden Eavenson and Jack Hay each had a pair of hits, Alex Blount tossed 3.1 innings, fanning 4, to pick up his 4th win of the season, and Chandler Griggs earned his 4th save, putting out a late rally in the 8th, and pitching a clean 9th.

Down 2-1 entering the bottom of the 5th inning, Andrew pulled ahead for good, with a pair of runs in the frame, then added 4 more runs in the 6th, to ease to the 7-3 win. Left hander Logan Seehafer scattered 7 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 4 to run his record to 3-0 on the season, Drew Ginther notched his 1st save with 1.2 innings of work, Whatley doubled and drove in 4 runs, Pierce was 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI, 2 runs scored, and stole his team-leading 31st base, while Podger and Eavenson each had a hit and an RBI.

Andrew is back at the Hord Athletic Complex on Saturday, with a 1:00 pm doubleheader against ABAC.
