Andrew Splits With Highlands; Edwards and Pierce With Big Days

EMERSON, Ga. -- The Andrew College baseball team split a doubleheader on Tuesday at the Lake Point Sports Complex with Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) leader Georgia Highlands College, taking game one 9-6, before dropping game two 5-4 in nine innings. The Tigers record stands at 22-13-1 overall and 7-5 in the GCAA.

The Tiger offense rapped out 17 hits in the 9-6 game one win, led by Jacob Pierce, who went 4 for 5 with 4 RBI, Jake Edwards was also 4 for 5 with a pair of runs scored and 2 RBI, Blake Falor was 3 for 5 with 3 runs scored, and Brayden Eavenson had a pair of hits, with a double, and Jonah Stout picked up his team-leading 5th win, fanning 6 over 8.1 innings.

In game two, the Tigers and Chargers battled for an extra two innings, with Highlands pushing across the game winner in the bottom of the 9th inning for the 5-4 win. Edwards went 2 for 3 with a pair of runs scored, a double, his 3rd homer of the year, and an RBI, Kaleb Podger and Jack Hay each had a pair of hits, Barron Northorp doubled in 2 runs, and Jonathan Manibusan doubled and scored, as the Tigers pounded out 11 hits. 

The Tigers are back at the Hord Athletic Complex for the first time in ten days, when Highlands comes to Cuthbert on Saturday for a 2:00 pm doubleheader.
